Eurohoops reported earlier this month that coach Oded Kattash was unlikely to continue with Panathinaikos and the two sides have now officially parted ways, the club announced.
“Odette was and remains one of our people, who honored the “clover” both as an athlete and as a coach with his character, dignity and personality. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts and wish him good luck in his life and career,” PAO’s announcement read.
The favorite to replace Kattash is still Dimitris Priftis, however, the coach still has a contract with UNICS Kazan. Priftis’s contract with UNICS includes a two-way option (team and coach) and there have been talks for more favorable financial terms on his contract, as a result of UNICS’ success this season. In order for the Greek coach to move on from the team, this buy-out has to be covered.
